Boasting the deepest shade of green reminiscent of Japanese pine trees, Matsu™ is characterized by its captivating roasted aromas brought to the fore by Matchæologist® artisanal roasting techniques handed down through generations of matcha sommeliers. The result is a rich and complex symphony of flavours with notes of "umami" and savoury-sweet undertones that round out the intensity of the roast, culminating in an exquisite blend with a full body and long, creamy finish.
Place 1/2 tsp (approx. 2 scoops) of matcha (~1g) in the matcha bowl, then add 15ml (0.5 fl oz) of 70ºC/160ºF water. Thoroughly knead mixture using the Chasen (bamboo whisk) until smooth paste forms. Add 70ml (2.4fl oz) of remaining water and mix until consistent.
Frothing ceremonial matcha is not encouraged as the resultant airy foam can impair matcha's flavour delivery potential. Upon sipping, roll the liquid around the palate to appreciate the full flavour anatomy of the tea.
Before use, cut open the inner bag and gently empty the contents in to the tin. Store in a cool dry place, away from moisture, and odours. Refrigerate after opening for optimal flavor and potency.
